We're pleased to welcome Eric Stuart, Director of Gentian Events, to our conference to facilitate his popular 2-day Crowd Safety Workshop.
The workshop aims to provide an understanding of the four aspects of basic crowd safety, and to provide techniques to plan and manage safe pedestrian flows in crowded places during all phases of an event including emergencies.
Workshop Objectives
By the end of the workshop you should be able to:

Understand the main risks in managing crowds.
-
Understand the differences between crowd management and crowd control.
-
Describe the phases of crowds and their psychology.
-
Conduct calculations for flow rates and density for people in crowded places.
-
Identify crowd behaviours in emergency situations and how to manage them.
-
Understand how to use non-computer models to plan for crowds.
-
To understand human behaviours that affect crowds: Route modelling, Normalcy Bias,
Dread Theory, De-individuation and the RAS.
Standalone workshop: $300 (+ fees and taxes.) Select this option if you are not attending the conference.

Your conference pass includes one of the following industry training courses, which will be held at the Actsafe office, and run concurrently with the conference (schedule here). Please select your course on Eventbrite when you register, N.B. limited number of spaces available.
Occupational First Aid Level 1: Includes CPR, crisis management, wound care and more. This full-day course packs in life-saving information and provides a WorkSafeBC OFA certificate.
Firearms Safety Training: This one day course will cover safe working practices and legislative requirements, and is of vital importance for those involved in supervising, planning or working on projects involving firearms.
Performing Arts Safety Awareness Workshop: This four-hour highly interactive general safety workshop is designed specifically for the performing arts and live event industry. Topics covered include, but are not limited to; identifying hazards, rights and responsibilities, and the importance of safety committees in the workplace.
Safety for Supervisors: This four-hour workshop defines who a supervisor is, the general duties of supervisors, risk assessments, joint health & safety committees, the rights of workers, and much more.
Joint Health & Safety Committee Fundamentals Training: WorkSafeBC mandates that all health and safety committee members have a minimum of 8-hours of training.
